Tulane Women’s Tennis Rolls Past Middle Tennessee, 7-0

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's tennis team notched its second consecutive win by sweeping past Middle Tennessee 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center. The Green Wave secured the doubles point quickly before clinching the win through just two sets on the singles courts.
With the victory, Tulane improved to 6-3 on the year including 5-1 at home. The Wave also claimed the all-time series lead over the Blue Raiders with the win giving Tulane a 3-2 advantage against Middle Tennessee.
The Green Wave started hot picking up the doubles point thanks to wins by the duos of Mackenzie Clark and Kristen Borland and Lahari Yelamanchili and Charlotte Russell. Clark and Borland picked up the first victory of the day 6-0 before the pairing of Yelamanchili and Russell improved their record to 7-1 on the season as they clinched the doubles point for the Wave on court one 7-5.
Momentum continued to roll for Tulane in singles action as it took just two sets on three courts for the Green Wave to clinch a victory. Borland recorded the first singles win 6-1, 6-2 on court three. She was followed shortly after by Russell with a pair of 6-3 wins on court five. Clark clinched the match for the Wave on court one with back-to-back 6-3 wins. Tulane added more points to the board as Yelamanchili won with in a 10-point tie break for her third set, Brooke Theis secured a two-set victory on court six, and Adelaide Lavery capped the day with a three-set victory to give the Wave the 7-0 clean sweep.
Up next, the Green Wave will host fellow American Athletic Conference member South Florida on Saturday. The match between Tulane and the Bulls is set for 12 p.m. CT at City Park Tennis Center.
