Tulane Finishes Sixth in the ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's sailing team posted a sixth-place finish among the 18 teams competing in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Women's Fleet Race National Championship Thursday. The Green Wave climbed three spots up the standings on the final day of the regatta finishing with a point total of 191.
After finishing a weather-shortened first day of the Women's Fleet Race National Championship finals in ninth place, the Green Wave managed to rise in the standings with a strong final day of racing. Tulane made the move into sixth place in the final race of the regatta by finishing eighth in the race to move in front of Navy.
The Wave's A Division team landed sixth in the division at the conclusion of the two-day regatta. Led by skipper Ciara Rodriguez-Horan along with crew Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez and Lucy Spearman, the Tulane A Division squad recorded a total score of 83 through 11 races.
In the B Division the Green Wave was led by skipper Caroline Benson alongside crew Abigail Borggaard and Riefkohl-Gonzalez to a 10th place finish. The Tulane squad posted a total score of 108 in 11 races in the B Division.
Across the 11-day events of the ICSA National Championships Tulane secured its first national championship since 1973 in the Open Fleet Race while also posting top-10 finished in both the Coed Team Race and Women's Fleet Race National Championships.
