
Cross Country Sees Both Teams Earns All-Academic Recognition from the USTFCCCA

Mackenzie Callahan, Bradley Makuvire and Evans Kipchumba Earn Individual All-Academic Honors
New Orleans - The Tulane University cross country teams were both recently nationally recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their outstanding work in the classroom through the 2022 fall semester. The two squads also saw Mackenzie Callahan, Bradley Makuvire and Evans Kipchumba earn individual All-Academic Athlete accolades from the organization.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The Tulane women's cumulative team GPA was 3.677 through the fall of 2022. The women were one of 249 Division I programs nationally recognized as All-Academic Teams. The Tulane men's cumulative team GPA was a 3.305 through the fall of 2022. The men were one of 216 Division I programs nationally recognized as All-Academic Teams.
Individually, Callahan was one of 171 women from 88 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2022 season. To
qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
For the men individually both Makuvire and Kipchumba were two of 124 men from 58 different programs who were named All-
Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2022 season. To qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships. 
Next, the track & field programs travel to Boston for a pair of meets in the city this weekend. The program sends a delegation to compete in the Crimson Elite and Multi at Harvard University from Feb. 3-4. The program also sends a group to participate in the Bruce Lehane Scarlett and White Invitational on the campus of Boston University on Feb. 4.
