
Volleyball Set to Take on Tulsa

The Green Wave volleyball team (6-22) will hit the road one last time this season to take on the Tulsa Hurricane (14-14) on Friday and Sunday.

Tulane versus SMU this Past Weekend:
The Green Wave was bested by the top-ranked team in the AAC, SMU, on Friday and Sunday. In both matches, the Mustangs defeated Tulane, 3-0.
In both matches, the offensive effort was led by freshman outside hitter, Avery Burks. On Friday she finished the match with 10 kills and on Saturday she had eight kills. She also led the team in digs on Saturday with 11.
The Green Wave defense finished Friday's match with six total blocks. Freshman middle blocker Jordan White led the blocking front with four total blocks.
In Sunday's match, Tulane's defensive front finished the match with seven blocks. Three different Green Wave blockers had three assisted blocks that led the defense.
Statistics:
The defensive front for Tulane is led by middle blocker Sabrina Skyers and libero Lauryn Burrows. Skyers finds herself fourth in the AAC in blocks per set averaging 1.10. Burrows is third in the AAC in digs per set with 4.35.
Burks remains in the top 10 in the conference in kills per set. The freshman currently sits at 7th in the AAC in kills per set averaging 3.29.
Defensive specialist Savannah Perry is Tulane's go-to player at the service line. She is fifth in the AAC in aces per set averaging .38.
Tulsa Match up:
Tulsa will host Tulane with a 14-14 record and a 7-9 conference record which places them sixth in the AAC West standings and 10th overall.
The Hurricane and the Green Wave have a long history as AAC foes. Tulane leads the series record by one; 20-19. Last season Tulsa went 2-0 against Tulane with their last contest going to five sets.ย
