Tulane Looks to End Season on a High Note Versus FAU

Tulane volleyball (6-24) will host the Florida Atlantic Owls (19-12) in their last match of the season on Wednesday afternoon. The match will honor the squad's four seniors for their dedication to the program.

Tulane versus Tulsa this Past Weekend
The Green Wave was bested by AAC West rival on Friday and Sunday. In both matches, the Golden Hurricane defeated Tulane 3-0.
In both matches, the offensive effort was led by freshman outside hitter Avery Burks. On Friday, she finished the match with 13 kills, and on Saturday, she had 10 kills. Amarachi Osuji followed behind Burks in both matches. The graduate student had seven kills in the match.
In Friday's match, the defensive effort was spearheaded by the imposing presence of Orsula Staka, who notched seven assisted blocks. Lauryn Burrows and Osuji demonstrated their defensive prowess with 20 digs apiece, anchoring the Green Wave in the backcourt.
The 20 digs from Osuji marked her season high.
The Green Wave's defense had six total blocks in the match. Leading the charge was the middle blocker, Sabrina Skyers, who capped off the match with three assisted blocks. Libero, Lauryn Burrows, led the defense in digs. She had 13 digs in the match.
Statistics:
The defensive front for Tulane is led by middle blocker Sabrina Skyers and libero Lauryn Burrows. Skyers finds herself 5th in the AAC in blocks per set, averaging 1.07. Burrows is third in the AAC in digs per set with 4.37.
Burks remains in the top 10 in the conference in kills per set. The freshman currently sits at 7th in the AAC in kills per set, averaging 3.30.
Defensive specialist Savannah Perry is Tulane's go-to player at the service line. She is 6th in the AAC in aces per set, averaging 0.36.
FAU Matchup:
FAU arrives in Uptown boasting a 19-12 overall record, firmly securing their place as second in the AAC East and an impressive fifth position overall with an 11-7 conference record.
The Owls and the Green Wave have minimal history and are looking to build one as new AAC rivals. The series record is currently 3-2, and their last meeting was in 2016.
Honoring the Seniors:
The four seniors being celebrated before the match will be graduate students Savannah Perry, Amarachi Osuji, Orsula Staka, and Lauryn Burrows.
Perry, a defensive specialist from Ames, IA, spent one season at Tulane and will be graduating in May with a Masters in Cell and Molecular Biology. She will go on to pursue Medical School after graduating.
Osuji, an outside hitter from Dallas, TX, spent two seasons in Uptown. She will be graduating with a master's in Healthcare Administration and plans on pursuing a career in Operations Management at a hospital.
Staka, a middle blocker from Dubrovnik, Croatia, played one season for the Green Wave and will be graduating with a master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Strategic Management and Innovation and plans on pursuing her doctorate after graduation.
Burrows, a libero who also spent one season in Uptown, is graduating with a master's in Sports Administration and hopes to pursue a career in sports marketing and communications.
