The turf being removed, which served the Green Wave for eight seasons, is being replaced by Hellas, the same manufacturer that replaced the turf on Benson Field inside Yulman Stadium this summer. The project will be completed in January, prior to the 2024 season.
The new baseball turf will maintain a mowed pattern and feature the Angry Wave logo in center field.
Also included in the project is an overhaul of the Theresa Sofio Hitting Facility, which includes: new Hellas synthetic turf, the addition/creation of nine pitching mounds for year-round training for pitchers, new LED lighting, an upgraded audio/speaker system and other aesthetic upgrades.
In addition to the turf project, Tulane has also addressed a handful of items in the Tulane dugout during this timeframe: new rubber flooring, new dugout rail bench seating, lighting upgrades and other aesthetic improvements.
