The Green Wave, under the leadership of Lisa Stockton, were picked for sixth in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) this season. The team went 18-14 last year and had a mark of 7-9 in AAC play. Coach Stockton enters her 30th year at the helm of Tulane. The program returns eight players from last season's roster for the 2023-24 season including 2023 American Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team selection Kyren Whittington. The Green Wave have added two freshmen, center Lily Ba and point guard Joy Madison-Key, along with graduate transfer forward Hannah Pratt and graduate transfer guard Kaylah Rainey. Last season, Tulane was selected for a WNIT post season appearance for the third consecutive year. Coach Stockton also became the all-time winningest women's basketball coach in the state of Louisiana during the campaign and was elected to the CUSA Hall of Fame over the summer. The team's top returner scorers from last season are Kyren Whittington and Marta Galic. Both averaged 11.9 points per game. Galic also led the team in rebounding a year ago with her average of 6.7 rebounds a game.
The program played and defeated Loyola University New Orleans in an exhibition contest on Oct. 30 by a 72-38 margin. Kyren Whittington led three players in double figures for the Green Wave with her 20 points. Kierra Middleton totaled 14 points and four assists. Marta Galic recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Chiara Grattini picked up eight points and a team-high five assists.

Tulane is 32-12 all-time against Nicholls since the start of the series in 1976. The last game was an 88-43 victory during the 2020 season. The Green Wave have won the last 16 games against the Colonels and haven't lost to Nicholls since 1991.
Stetson went 13-20 last season including a mark of 6-12 in the A-Sun. The program is picked to finish sixth in the league this season and are expected to be led by Khamya McNeal. McNeal was an A-Sun Preseason All-Conference selection. The Hatters are coached by Lynn Bria. Bria has spent 15 years on the bench and is the all-time winningest coach in the history of the program.
Nicholls is coming off a 5-24 season and had a mark of 2-16 in the Southland Conference (SLC) play. The program made a change in its leadership bringing in Justin Payne to lead the program from Georgia Southwestern. Payne was a long-time assistant women's coach at Nicholls and played basketball for the men's team as well. The Colonels are expected to be led by reigning SLC Freshman of the Year Lexi Alexander. Alexander averaged 13.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks while finishing second in the league in double-doubles in her first year on a collegiate campus.
