
Women’s Basketball’s Kyren Whittington Named to the AAC’s Weekly Honor Roll

DALLAS, Texas – Tulane women's basketball's Kyren Whittington was named to the American Athletic Conference's (AAC) Weekly Honor Roll for the week from Dec. 4 – Dec. 10, the league office announced this afternoon.
In leading the women's basketball team to a 2-0 week, Whittington averaged 22 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 steals per game. She also shot 60.7 percent from the field (17-for-28) and 87.5 percent from the free throw line (7-for-8). Whittington also made three three-pointers and had seven assists plus a pair of blocks in the two games. She started her week with 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals in the 90-63 victory over crosstown rival UNO on Wednesday (12/6). She shot 10-for-15 from the field (66.7 percent) in 22:51 minutes. In the Sunday (12/10) 67-52 victory over Howard, Whittington again tallied 22 points to go along with a team leading eight rebounds and five steals plus a pair of assists. She shot 7-for-13 from the field (53.8 percent). Whittington did much of her damage in the second half against the Bison with 16 points and six rebounds. Her overall total of eight rebounds was her highest in a game since 2020.
Whittington has now scored 20 or more points in four games this season and has reached double figures in eight of the team's nine games.
This is the second time that she has been honored by the league office this season as she was also named to the AAC's Weekly Honor Roll on Nov. 20.
On the season, Whittington leads the team and ranks ninth in the conference with her average of 16.7 points per game. She is fifth in the league in both shooting (49.5) and free throw percentage (83.7). Whittington also ranks second in the conference in both total steals (30) and steals per game (3.33).
After a break for final exams, Tulane keeps the homestand going and hosts the Tulane Holiday Classic from Dec. 20-21 at Devlin Fieldhouse. The team will face off against Little Rock on the first day of the tournament at 12 p.m. Also playing on the opening day of the tournament will be Maine and Duquesne 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opening game.
