NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University junior Gemma Rebollo has been named the 2023 American Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year, the league office announced Monday.
Rebollo took home the individual title at The American Cross Country championships this fall running a 20:39.2 in the 6K race. Her performance marked the first individual conference champion for Tulane and helped lead the Green Wave to its first team title in program history.
She also went on to be All-Region in the NCAA South Central Regional, finishing in 15th place with a time of 20:58.2 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
This season, the Tulane women's team produced four all-conference runners and three all-region runners. The Green Wave women won the AAC championship and the UNO XC Opener this season. Rebollo highlighted both first place finishes for the Wave as she won the individual title at both meets.
