Tulane Baseball Opens AAC Play with Memphis

NEW ORLEANS - This weekend, the Tulane University baseball team (6-19) welcomes Memphis (14-11) for a three-game series inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium to open American Athletic Conference play.

THE MATCHUP
The Friday and Saturday games begin at 6 p.m., while Sunday's duel starts at 1 p.m. Sunday's game will also be the Green Wave's Bark in the Park promotion. Fans can bring their dogs to the game for free. Each dog in attendance will receive a Tulane collapsible dog bowl (while supplies last) and $3 hot dogs will be available at the concession stands! There will be a special dog seating area in the right field bleachers, and water, doggie bags and a dog relief zone will be available in the area behind the bleachers.

The series airs live on ESPN+ with radio coverage on WRBH 88.3 FM.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Third baseman Austin Baskin leads the team with a .330 batting average, 31 hits, eight doubles, 17 RBI and 51 total bases. First baseman Anthony Hansen has a team-high 16 runs scored, five home runs and 20 walks, while center fielder Brayland Skinner leads the way with three triples. Skinner is also 10-for-10 in stolen base attempts this season.

Memphis has used mostly four starting pitchers in 2023: JT Durham, Seth Garner, Dalton Fowler and David Warren. Durham has three wins and sports the best ERA of that group at 4.50. Fowler has an impressive 48 strikeouts in 31 and two-thirds innings, while allowing just a .233 batting average against. Dalton Kendrick is the team's closer and has seven saves with a 3.13 ERA in 23 innings, yielding just a .177 BAA.

LAST TIME OUT
Tulane hit three homers (and Brady Marget launched two), but fell 16-4 to New Orleans at home on Wednesday to cede the 2023 Pelican Cup to the Privateers.
