
Green Wave Finishes Ninth in Women’s Fleet Race National Championship

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Tulane sailing team finish ninth out of 18 teams in the 2023 ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship this week. A lack of wind on Friday limited the regatta to 10 total rotations during which the Green Wave posted a total score of 186.
Stanford University won the title with a total score of 96 for the regatta.
For the Green Wave, senior Ciara Rodriguez-Horan was named a 2023 ICSA Women's All-American Honorable Mention Skipper. She was also selected as an ICSA All-American Women's Skipper in 2021 and 2022.
In the A-Division, the Wave finished ninth through 10 races. As the skipper Rodriguez-Horan teamed up with Catherine Anderson, Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez, and Lydia Brown to post a total score of 94 with five top 10 finishes.
Tulane finished eighth with a total score of 92 in the B Division. Skipper Caroline Benson raced alongside Megan Cassidy, Abigail Borggaard, and Ellie Spearman to five top 10 finishes including two top five finishes (4 & 3).
Up next, the Wave will compete in the ICSA Open Team Race National Championship in Kings Point, New York. The championship will begin Saturday and run through Monday. Tulane will be the 10 seed in a field of 16 for the open championship.
