Carmouche Selected by San Francisco Giants in MLB’s 15th Round
Jul 11, 2023 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane pitcher Dylan Carmouche was picked 450th overall in the 15th Round by the San Francisco Giants Tuesday afternoon on the final day of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft.
Â
Carmouche, a left-hander from Denham Springs, Louisiana, won five times on the mound for the Green Wave in 2023. He also struck out 102 batters in 90 innings.
Â
He saved his best for last as the season wound down, earning All-American Athletic Conference Tournament honors for a program that stormed through the league's tournament from the seven seed. For the week in Clearwater, he hurled a complete game victory over Memphis and recorded the clinching win over East Carolina in the title game, sending the Green Wave to the NCAA Tournament's Baton Rouge Regional.
Â
Carmouche is the fourth Tulane player to be selected by the Giants. Taylor Rogers was picked in the 25th round (747th overall) in the 2009 draft, while Eric Lane went in the ninth round (226th overall) of the 1983 draft and William Fitzgerald was also selected in the 15th round (341st overall) of the 1968 draft.
