Sep 28, 2023 | Cross Country
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University cross country travels to South Bend, Indiana, on Friday to race against a strong field in the Joe Piane – Notre Dame Invite. The Green Wave men will compete in the Men's Blue Division while the women are set to race in the Women's Gold Division.
"This is a big weekend for us to get the respect to be entered into the Piane Invitational championship sections among some of the nation's most elite programs," director of cross country/track and field Adrian Myers said.
The meet will be held at the Burks Golf Course with the Men's Gold Division racing at 10:15 a.m. CT followed by the Women's Gold Division at 11:45 a.m. CT. The men will compete in an 8k race and the women will run a 5k race.
"Our men are excited to get after it and continue to elevate our programs status," Myers stated. "The guys have been training hard and aspiring to a higher level. I really love what this group is becoming."
In the men's race Tulane will compete among 17 other teams including four nationally ranked teams in No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 21 NC State, No. 27 Alabama, and No. 28 Montana State.
The Green Wave women will race alongside 17 other teams in the gold division.
"On the women's side we elected to sit some athletes to continue training and focus on pushing some into positions of development towards our championship potential," Myers said. "We will race down in the gold race with a 'B' team designation racing only a few of our top-7 athletes. I am excited to watch them compete and continue to move us towards championship pedigree."
Fans will be able to follow along with live results HERE.
Up next, Tulane will head to College Station, Texas, to compete in the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M on Friday, October 13.
