Oct 25, 2024 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS –  After witnessing the first practice of the fall, multiple intersquad scrimmages, the annual Alumni Game and the distribution of the 2024 AAC Championship Rings last week, Tulane's baseball fans will see the team in action against an opposing school this weekend as the program hosts Pearl River Community College (PRCC) on Saturday (Oct. 26) in a scrimmage at 1 p.m. on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Admission is free with the gates officially opening at 12 p.m. As a special note, no outside food or drink is allowed as concessions will be open for all fans in attendance and the clear bag policy is in effect.Â
The NCAA started in 2018 to allow Division I baseball teams to play two fall scrimmages against outside opponents without counting it against the spring schedule.
The 16-inning scrimmage is scheduled for first pitch at 1 p.m. on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium against the Wildcats. PRCC is based in Poplarville, Mississippi. The school has won 45+ games in each of the last three seasons including a run to win the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship in 2022. In 2024, the program set a new school record with 49 wins while accumulating a 25-3 record in the Mississippi Association of Community College Conference (MACCC). PRCC also set a new school record last season with a run of 29 consecutive victories.
Tulane is also scheduled to host the team's second scrimmage of the fall against Nicholls on Saturday, Nov. 2, also at 1 p.m. with gates officially opening at 12 p.m. The Green Wave went 3-0 against Nicholls last season including eliminating the Colonels in the 2024 Corvalis Regional.
On Thursday, Nov. 21, Tulane begins the 2024 Fall Ball World Series also on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The Fall World Series ends on Sunday, Nov. 23.
