Baseball Hosts Fall Ball Game Against Nicholls This Week

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team is set to host its second and final game against an outside fall opponent as the program welcomes in Nicholls on Saturday (Nov. 2) at 1 p.m. on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

Admission is free with the gates officially opening at 12 p.m. As a special note, no outside food or drink is allowed as concessions will be open for all fans in attendance and the clear bag policy is in effect.

The NCAA started in 2018 to allow Division I baseball teams to play two fall scrimmages against outside opponents without counting it against the spring schedule. The Green Wave took on Pearl River CC last weekend. The team was ahead 9-4 after the first six innings but ultimately fell 20-15 in the predetermined 16 innings.

The 14-inning scrimmage against Nicholls is scheduled for a first pitch at 1 p.m. on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium on Saturday. Nicholls is based in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The program has a new head coach this season in Brent Haring. The Colonels went 38-22 and 16-8 in the Southland Conference last season. The program won their second straight SLC Tournament Title in 2024 and made the school's fifth-ever NCAA Regional appearance where they were eliminated by Tulane 3-0 in the Corvalis Regional.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, Tulane begins the 2024 Fall Ball World Series also on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The Fall World Series ends on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Tulane's baseball team went 36-26 during the 2024 season, rolled to the team's second straight AAC Championship and earned a post-season berth to the NCAA Regionals for the second consecutive campaign under the watchful eye of head coach Jay Uhlman. The program defeated Nicholls 3-0 in the regionals for the first NCAA shutout since 2005 over Rice in the Super Regionals. The victory was the first for the program in the NCAA Tournament since 2016 when the team defeated Utah by a 4-1 score. The program saw four of its players drafted in the 2024 MLB Draft in Chandler Welch, Colin Tuft, Brady Marget and Teo Banks. Tulane has now totaled 135 all-time draft choices including 18 since 2019.
