Nov 25, 2024 | Women's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane head women's basketball coach Ashley Langford has announced the signing of Mecailin Marshall, Shiloh Kimpson, and Madison Gordon to the program's 2025 recruiting class.
Marshall, a 5'9" combo guard from Abernathy High School in Abernathy, Texas, has been a standout multi-sport athlete for the Lady Lopes.
"Mecailin is the definition of a coach's daughter," Coach Langford said. "She loves the game of basketball and has a strong work ethic which fits our culture. Her ability to score at all three levels will allow us to space the floor on the offensive end and she will thrive in our uptempo style of play."
On the court, she is a four-year letter winner under her father, Head Coach Mikey Marshall. Known for her scoring ability, Marshall earned the title of co-MVP and is a member of the THSGA Super Elite Team. Her high school career highlight came when she scored 55 points in a single game to lead her team to victory.
Off the court, Marshall excels academically and is recognized for her strong work ethic and leadership.
She is the daughter of Mikey and Shay Marshall and plans to major in kinesiology at Tulane, with aspirations of a career in sports rehabilitation.
Kimpson is a 5'6" point guard from Little Elm High School in Little Elm, Texas.
"Shiloh is a dynamic point guard that impacts the game on both sides of the ball," Coach Langford said. "Her quickness and attack mentality gives her the ability to make plays for herself and her teammates. Naturally, Shiloh is a relentless on ball defender and will give us the ability to pressure opponents."
During her junior year, she averaged 14.7 points, 2.4 steals, and 2.0 assists per game, leading her team to a 28-8 record and a second consecutive Class 6A Regional Final appearance. Kimpson has scored over 1,300 career points and is ranked among the top players in the state by Jr. All-Star Girls Basketball and other scouting services.
Off the court, Kimpson excels academically as a member of the Mavs Leadership Council, the National Honor Society, and the top 8% of her class.Â
She is the daughter of Ogechi and Clif Kimpson and has three siblings, including her older sister, Amarachi, a collegiate basketball player. Kimpson plans to major in chemistry at Tulane, with career aspirations to become an oncologist.
Gordon, a 6'2" power forward from Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California, brings a versatile skill set to the court.
"Madison is an athletic, versatile forward that can defend multiple positions and will flourish in our transition offense," Coach Langford said. "Her size and athleticism will provide a low post presence and allow us to protect the paint."
During her high school career, Gordon played under Head Coach Malik McCord and helped her team achieve significant milestones, including winning the NCS Championship, competing in the Nike Tournament of Champions, and finishing as the CIF State Championship runner-up.Â
Known for her presence on both ends of the court, Gordon is a right-handed player with a powerful game and strong leadership qualities.
Off the court, Gordon is passionate about traveling, art, and entrepreneurship. She plans to major in psychology or business at Tulane, with aspirations of starting her own clothing business or becoming a therapist.
Gordon is the daughter of Porsche Gordon, a former swimmer at Howard University, and comes from a family with a strong athletic background.Â
