NEW ORLEANS – Tulane (8-4, 1-0 American Athletic Conference) will take its five-game winning streak into a 2 p.m. CT home meeting with Rice (7-6, 0-1 AAC) on Wednesday inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
Â
Tulane registered a 91-71 win at Florida Atlantic on Sunday in the conference opener for both teams. For their efforts, both Sadie Shores (AAC Freshman of the Week) and Amira Mabry (AAC Honorable Mention list) both earned conference honors.Â
Â
Shores scored a season-high 16 points (6-for-10 from the field) while going a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. She added six rebounds and another season-high of five assists.
Â
This is the fourth time that Tulane has won the league's top rookie honor this season. Kendall Sneed captured it on November 25, December 2 and December 23.
Â
Mabry collected her second 20-point double-double in as many outings. She tallied a career-high 26 points to go with 11 rebounds and made 12 of her 18 shots from the field and has averaged 23.5 points in her last two contests for the Green Wave.
Â
Her point total Sunday was the most in a Tulane conference opener in at least 20 years.
Â
Dominique Ennis (11.1) and Malia Fisher (10.8) are the Owls' leading scorers and Hailey Adams (6.5) is the team's top rebounder. Rice leads the AAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.05), bench points per game (23.7), free throw percentage (71.8) and fewest turnovers per game (14.7).
Â
Fans can watch the game live on ESPN+ (Corey Gloor and Tiffany Aidoo on the call) and listen to the broadcast on the Tulane Sports Network via WRBH 88.3 FM, the Tulane Athletics App, or The Varsity Network App. Paul Boron will provide play-by-play for the Green Wave.
