
Cheruiyot and Jeptanui Sweep AAC Runner of the Year Honors

IRVING, Tx. - The American Athletic Conference (AAC) announced Bernard Cheruiyot and Caroline Jeptanui as the league's 2024 Runners of the Year on Wednesday morning.
This fall, Cheruiyot won the 2024 AAC Championship title with an 8k time of 23:43.5, earned NCAA All-Region honors with a sixth-place finish, and placed 85th at the NCAA Championships, leading Tulane to a program-best 28th-place team finish. He also holds the 8k school record of 22:50.4.
Notably, he became only the second Tulane athlete to earn Runner of the Year honors, joining Emmanuel Rotich, the award's recipient in 2017 and 2018.
Jeptanui claimed the 2024 AAC Championship with a time of 20:14.5. She then finished as the runner-up at the NCAA South Central Regional with a time of 19:22.9, before earning All-American honors with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, crossing the line in 19:47.6. She also holds the 6k school record of 19:04.85.
Jeptanui is the second consecutive Tulane athlete to earn the award, following Gemma Rebollo, who received the honor last year.
