Tulane Visits George Mason for Saturday Matinee

FAIRFAX, Va. – Tulane University men's basketball will aim to snap its four-game losing streak as it visits George Mason at EagleBank Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Green Wave has not lost five consecutive games since dropping seven in a row last season from February 11 to March 5.

The game between the Wave and the Patriots is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with Paul Boron or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the fifth all-time regular season meeting between Tulane and George Mason with the Green Wave trailing the series 1-3 including 0-1 in Fairfax, Virginia. The Wave has lost each of its last two matchups against the Patriots including a 66-69 defeat at home last season. The last time Tulane beat George Mason was on November 28, 2009, by a final score of 76-71 in New Orleans.

In its last time out, Tulane dropped its fourth consecutive game falling 67-71 at home to Southeastern Louisiana on Monday, December 2. The Green Wave battled back from a nine-point deficit to take the lead in the second half but was unable to hold as the Lions reclaimed the lead on a 7-0 run and Tulane could not mount a response to pull back in front. Freshman Kam Williams led all scorers in the game matching his career-high with 19 points and hitting a career-best five three-pointers.

Through December 4 the Green Wave ranks in the top three of the American Athletic Conference in assists, assist-to-turnover ratio, blocks per game, field goal percentage defense, free throw percentage, defensive rebounds per game, scoring defense, and threes per game. Tulane leads the league and rates fourth nationally in blocks with 6.3 per game.

George Mason enters the matchup on a four-game winning streak after defeating UNC Asheville 74-52 on Tuesday to improve to 6-3 on the season. Darius Maddox leads the Patriots in with 14.6 points per contest followed Jalen Haynes and Giovanni Emejuru averaging 11.2 and 10.4 points, respectively.

The Patriots have been stout defensively so far this season leading the country in field goal percentage holding opponents to 34.9 percent shooting from the floor. George Mason also ranks 13th in the country in three-point percentage defense at 26.2 percent.

Following the game against the Patriots, the Green Wave will return home to host Southern Miss on Tuesday, December 10. The matchup between Tulane and the Golden Eagles is scheduled for at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
