
Track & Field Starts the 2023-24 Outdoor Campaign on Saturday at the Louisiana Classics

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane outdoor track & field program begins the 2023-24 season with a trip to Lafayette, Louisiana to participate in the Louisiana Classics on Saturday at Ragin' Cajuns Track Complex. The meet starts at 8 a.m. with the women's 5k. The field events begin at 8:30 a.m. with the women's discus. The meet was originally scheduled to begin on Friday, but weather forced a change to a Saturday-only meet.
The program is expected to send Adam Aldahir (1500m, 5000m), Chase Cartwright (1500m, 5000m), Sam Cohen (400m, 1500m), Alan Deogracias III (1500m), Zander Dunbar (400m, 1500m), Juan Giron (1500m, 5000m), Lee Harris (100m, 400m), Charles Henne (400m, 1500m), Arturs Lapins (1500m), Parker Orlowsky (400m, 1500m), Dekel Regev (400m, pole vault, shot put, javelin), Matthew Remondet (javelin), Francisco Roman III (100m, 400m, shot put, javelin), Jalen St. Fort (400m, 1500m), Albert Tawil-Brown (1500m, 5000m), Tolu Ajayi (100m, 200m), Norah Bice (shot put, discus), Bella Carroll (100m, 4x100m relay), Sofia Caruso (shot put, discus), Alyssa Dismuke (discus), Brenda Ellis (1500m, 5000m), Alexis Esteves (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay), Cosette Fleury (pole vault), Laura Fodor (shot put, javelin), Lili Grant (1500m), Sofie Groeninger (shot put, javelin), Robyn Larkan (100m, 4x100m relay), Payton Musso (javelin), Patricija Ozolina (100m, shot put, javelin, 4x100m relay), Reese Ragland (800m), Kate Sander (pole vault), Karlijn Schouten (pole vault), Alex Sharp (5000m), Emma Simons (shot put, discus), Amanda Soldan (1500m), Kaia Todd (shot put, javelin), Macy Turcotte (1500m, 5000m)
During indoor season for the 2023-24 school year, the Tulane women had a total of three All-Conference AAC members in Karlijn Schouten (3rd – pole vault), Paula Vaquera (2nd – 3000m) and Janae Dean (3rd – 800m) as the finished eighth overall. The program also saw Vaquera set the school record at the meet in the 5000m (11:38.69) and Dean break the school mark in the 800m (2:06.17). Since taking over the program prior to the start of the 2021 school year, Coach Adrian Myers has led 30 student-athletes to All-Conference honors between cross country and track and field seasons.
During 2022-23 outdoor season, the Tulane women placed sixth overall with 63 points at the AAC Championships. The finish was Tulane's best since 2016. The Tulane men finished eighth during outdoor season with 26 points. The program totaled nine All-Conference selections during outdoor season in Janae Dean (1st – women's 800m), Victoria Robinson (3rd – women's 800m), Kara Steele (3rd – women's triple jump), Mackenzie Callahan (3rd - women's 1500m), Aaron Gilliam (3rd – men's 1500m), Bradley Makuvire (3rd – men's 5,000m), Mackenzie Callahan (2nd – women's 3000m steeplechase), Maren Butler (3rd – women's shot put), Margot Temines (3rd – women's heptathlon). Kristen O'Handley ended the outdoor season by achieving All-American status in the Heptathlon.
Next, the program starts Spring Break by heading to the Victor Lopez Classic from March 22-23 in Houston, Texas hosted by Rice University. The second part of the Spring Break trip sees a split squad with most of the team going to the Bobcat Invitational from March 27-30 in San Marcos, Texas while selected members of the squad head to the Raleigh Relays from March 28-30.
