
Track and Field’s Karlijn Schouten Wins the Pole Vault On the Second Day of the Victor Lopez Classic

Houston, Texas – Tulane's Karlijn Schouten won the women's pole vault to help lead the track & field team on the final day of the Victor Lopez Classic on Saturday in Houston at Holloway Field. At the meet the program totaled eight personal bests an an event victory.
Schouten has now won the pole vault in each of her first two outdoor meets of the season. She had a vault of 3.85m/12'02.50". Kate Sander placed fifth in the event with a 3.65m/11'11.75". Cosette Fleury took 12th in the event with a leap of 3.35m/10'11.75".
Zander Dunbar ran a personal best 1:50.74 to earn third in the 800m. Jalen St. Fort also had a personal best to take 13th with a 1:53.13, while Parker Orlowsky placed 18th with a 1:55.08.
Kara Schiek earned fifth in the women's javelin with her throw of 39.92m/130'11". Sofie Groeninger placed seventh with a 38.48m/126'02".
Lee Harris finished seventh in the men's 100m (10.91). He also set a personal record in the 200m (22.30)
Anna Schadel finished seventh in the women's 800m with a 2:14.39.
Kaia Todd placed seventh in the women's triple jump with a 11.90m/39'00.50".
The 4x400m relay team of Bella Carroll, Elena Liano-Rengel, Schadel and Alexis Esteves placed seventh in their event with a 47.67.
Dekel Regev earned ninth in the men's high jump with a 1.80m/5'10.75".
Alyssa Dismuke placed ninth in the women's discus with a 35.36m/116'00". She also earned 10th in the shot put with a personal best 11.65m/38'02.75".
Todd earned 11th in the women's 100m hurdles with a 14.88. Patricija Ozolina took 13th with a 15.19. Robyn Larkan placed 14th with a 15.30 and Laura Fodor earned 15th with a 15.34.
Tolu Ajayi took 12th in the women's 100m (12.49). She also earned 21st in the women's 200m (25.55)
The program started the day with all three competitors in the men's 5000m setting a personal best. Albert Tawil-Brown ran a 14:54.90 to finish sixth in the event. Adam Aldahir took 12th with a 15:20.58. Chase Cartwright placed 13th with a 15:26.06.
Next, the program starts the second part of the Spring Break trip and splits the squad with most of the team going to the Bobcat Invitational from March 27-30 in San Marcos, Texas while selected members of the squad head to the Raleigh Relays from March 28-30.
