
Track & Field Competes At A Pair Of Meets This Week

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane outdoor track & field program competes in a pair of meets this week. The program will send a group to the Bobcat Invitational and Multi in San Marcos, Texas from March 28 – 30. The action starts on Thursday at 12 p.m. with the women's 100m hurdles of the heptathlon. The program will also send a group to the Raleigh Relays from March 28 – 30 at Paul Derr Track and Field Facility in North Carolina. Things kick off on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. CT with the men's javelin.
At the Raleigh Relays the program is expected to send Zander Dunbar (800m), Jalen St. Fort (800m), Parker Orlowsky (800m), Sam Cohen (800m, 1500m), Charles Henne (800m), Illia Kunin (5000m), Jack Jennings (5000m, 10,000m), Paul James Pam (5000m), Alan Deogracias III (5000m), Ryan Adkins (5000m, 10,000m), Arturs Lapin (3000m steeple), Matthew Remondet (javelin), Elena Liano-Rengel (800m), Anna Schadel (800m, 1500m), Reese Ragland (800m, 1500m), Danna Diaz (1500m, 5000m), Macy Turcotte (1500m), Paula Vaquera (5000m), Lily Bell (5000m), Karlijn Schouten (pole vault), Kate Sander (pole vault), Cosette Fleury (pole vault), Norah Bice (shot put, discus, javelin), Sofia Caruso (discus) and Kara Schiek (javelin).
The team's list of competitors for the Bobcat Invitational and Multis includes Lee Harris (100m, 200m, 400m), Francisco Roman III (100m, 400m, long jump, shot put), Dekel Regev (high jump, long jump, javelin), Tolu Ajayi (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay), Bella Carroll (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay), Alexis Esteves (200m, 400m, 4x100m relay), Alyssa Taylor (200m, 400), Robyn Larkan (200m, 100m hurdles, 4x100m relay), Patricija Ozolina (200m, 4x100m relay, high jump, long jump, javelin), Sofie Groeninger (100m hurdles, long jump, shot put, javelin, heptathlon), Kaia Todd (4x100m relay, triple jump, heptathlon) and Laura Fodor (4x100m relay, heptathlon)
Last time out at the Victor Lopez Classic, Karlijn Schouten won the women's pole vault to help lead the team. At the meet the program totaled eight personal bests and an event victory
Schouten has now won the pole vault in each of her first two outdoor meets of the season. She had a vault of 3.85m/12'02.50" last weekend. Kate Sander placed fifth in the event with a 3.65m/11'11.75". Cosette Fleury took 12th in the even with a leap of 3.35'10'11.75".
Zander Dunbar ran a personal best 1:50.74 to earn third in the 800m. Jalen St. Fort also ran a persona best to take 13th with a 1:53.13, while Parker Orlowsky placed 18th with a 1:55.08.
Kara Schiek earned fifth in the women's javelin with her throw of 39.92m/130'11". Sofie Groeninger placed seventh with a 38.48m/126'02".
Lee Harris finished seventh in the men's 100m (10.91). He also set a personal record in the 200m (22.30).
Reese Ragland earned seventh in the 1500m with a 4:33.80.
Anna Schadel finished seventh in the women's 800m with a 2:14.39.
Kaia Todd placed seventh in the women's triple jump with a 11.90m/39'00.50".
The 4x400m relay team of Bella Carroll, Elena Liano-Rengel, Schadel and Alexis Esteves placed seventh in their event with a 47.67.
Dekel Regev earned ninth in the men's high jump with a 1.80m/5'10.75".
Alyssa Dismuke placed ninth in the women's discus with a 35.36m/116'00". She also earned 10th in the shot put with a personal best 11.65m/38'02.75".
Todd earned 11th in the women's 100m hurdles with a 14.88. Patricija Ozolina took 13th with a 15.19. Robyn Larkan placed 14th with a 15.30 and Laura Fodor earned 15th with a 15.34.
Tolu Ajayi took 12th in the women's 100m (12.49). She also earned 21st in the women's 200m (25.55)
The program started the day with all three competitors in the men's 5000m setting a personal best. Albert Tawil-Brown ran a 14:54.90 to finish sixth in the event. Adam Aldahir took 12th with a 15:20.58. Chase Cartwright placed 13th with a 15:26.06.
On the opening day, Juan Giron was the only Green Wave athlete to compete in finishing sixth in the 10,000m with a personal best of 32:02.13.
During 2022-23 outdoor season, the Tulane women placed sixth overall with 63 points at the AAC Championships. The finish was Tulane's best since 2016. The Tulane men finished eighth during outdoor season with 26 points. The program totaled nine All-Conference selections during outdoor season in Janae Dean (1st – women's 800m), Victoria Robinson (3rd – women's 800m), Kara Steele (3rd – women's triple jump), Mackenzie Callahan (3rd - women's 1500m), Aaron Gilliam (3rd – men's 1500m), Bradley Makuvire (3rd – men's 5,000m), Mackenzie Callahan (2nd – women's 3000m steeplechase), Maren Butler (3rd – women's shot put), Margot Temines (3rd – women's heptathlon). Kristen O'Handley ended the outdoor season by achieving All-American status in the Heptathlon.
Next, the program heads to California to participate in the Bryan Clay Invitational from April 11-13 in Azusa, California. The team will also participate in Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Long Beach, California starting on April 11.
