
Tulane Hosts Wichita State for Senior Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball (13-16, 4-13) will host Wichita State (13-17, 5-12) inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse for Senior Night on Friday. The Green Wave will look to snap its seven-game losing streak as it squares off with the Shockers for the first time this season.

The game between the Green Wave and the Shockers is set to tipoff at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 104.1 The Spot with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

Tulane will honor seniors Kevin Cross, Jaylen Forbes, and Tre' Williams prior to tipoff against Wichita State. The trio has combined for 258 appearances for Tulane including 228 starts. Forbes and Cross both rank in the top 10 in program history in scoring as Forbes is in fourth with 1,830 points for the Wave while Cross ranks ninth with 1,477 points.

This marks the 12th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Shockers with Tulane trailing in the series 4-7. Tulane has won four of the last five matchups including an 82-76 victory in the quarterfinals of the 2023 American Conference Tournament on March 10. The Wave is just 1-3 against Wichita State in New Orleans with the lone win coming on January 29, 2022, by a final score of 67-66.

In its last time out, Tulane lost its seventh game in a row as it fell 85-72 on the road to #24 South Florida Tuesday night. The loss marked the first time the Green Wave has lost seven games in a row since losing nine straight during the 2019-20 season. Turnovers cost Tulane as the Wave turned the ball over 17 times resulting in 25 points off turnovers for the Bulls. Forbes led the Green Wave with a team-high 24 points including seven made threes to match a career high.

Wichita State enters the matchup on a two-game winning streak after defeating Rice 87-66 at home on Saturday. On the road this season the Shockers are 2-9 overall including a 1-7 mark in conference play.

The Shockers average 72.7 points on 44.8 percent shooting overall this season, but on the road those numbers drop to 67.7 point per game on 43.6 percent shooting. Colby Rogers leads three players averaging double figures in scoring for the Shockers at 16.07 points per game which ranks eighth in the conference.

Following the game at Wichita State, the Green Wave head to Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2024 AAC Men's Basketball Championship. The tournament will be hosted at Dickies Arena from March 13-17.
