
Bowling Earns NTCA Team All-Academic Honors

Six Team Members Chosen As NTCA All-Academic
Wichita, Kansas  – The Tulane bowling team were big winners in the recently announced National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic Awards. The team was one of 61 nationally to be recognized by NTCA. The program also saw six individual team members recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom for the 2023-24 school year as All-Academic Scholar Athletes.
As a team, the Green Wave earned the NTCA All-Academic Team Award with a 3.341 cumulative GPA during the 2023-24 season. The team's GPA ranked the program 48th overall among all bowling teams in the NCAA. Programs must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher for the 2023-24 academic school year to qualify for the award. A total of 61 bowling programs achieved a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher this season.
This is the 10th straight year the Tulane's team has achieved status as an NTCA All-Academic Team.
Six members of the bowling team were named NTCA All-Academic Scholar Athletes as individuals. A student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher for the academic school year to qualify for the award. This year there are 364 honorees, representing NCAA bowling programs at 75 schools.

Yarelis Alvarez, Sofiia Druchyna, Morgan Gitlitz and Katharina Mente were all named to the NTCA All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season.
Earlier in the summer, Tulane bowling program saw six of its student-athletes named to the CUSA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. The group for Tulane included Yarelis Alvarez, Kristen Derr, Sofiia Druchyna, Emma Fetterman, Morgan Gitlitz, Linnea Holcomb, Katharina Mente and Cassidy Williams for totaling a 3.0 cumulative GPA for the 2023-24 academic year.
Additionally, Sofiia Druchyna and Emma Fetterman were CUSA Academic Medal Winners for having a 3.75 and higher GPA over the course of the two semesters this year.
On the season, Kristen Derr had the team's most pins at 10,337 and average at 202.6. She also had the highest game on the squad as she rolled a 280 at the Stormin' Blue and White Classic.
Tulane finished the season with an overall record of 63-43 (59.4 winning percentage) and ranked No. 15 in the final National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. The team qualified and competed in the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championships from April 18-19 in Kentucky. The program also saw Morgan Gitlitz competed in the Intercollegiate Singles Championships this season.
This year's Tulane roster featured six returners in Morgan Gitlitz, Yarelis Alvarez, Sofiia Druchyna, Katharina Mente, Mia Stolakis and Cassidy Williams plus four newcomers in Juanelyz Solla, Emma Fetterman, Kristen Derr and Linnea Holcomb. Mia Stolakis became the first Tulane bowler to ever qualify for the Junior USA Team with her performance at US Team Trials from Jan. 2-7. Kristen Derr became the seventh Tulane player to ever earn NTCA All-American accolades with her honorable mention selection this season.
