Baseball Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellent Award For Eighth Consecutive Season

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane baseball continued the program's success both on and off the field as the team was named a 2023-24 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award winner, the organized announced this afternoon.
In order to earn the team award, the program needed to have a 3.0 and above cumulative grade-point average (GPA) for the 2023-24 academic year.
Tulane is one of only five teams honored from the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and one of only four squads from the state of Louisiana.
The honor was the eighth straight season that the Tulane baseball program has been recognized by the ABCA. The Green Wave are one of just 12 Division I teams nationally that can claim the distinction over each of the last eight seasons.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award
Tulane's baseball team went 36-26 during the 2024 season, rolled to the team's second straight AAC Championship and earned a post-season berth to the NCAA Regionals for the second consecutive campaign under the watchful eye of head coach Jay Uhlman. The program defeated Nicholls 3-0 in the regionals for the first NCAA shutout since 2005 over Rice in the Super Regionals. The victory was the first for the program in the NCAA Tournament since 2016 when the team defeated Utah by a 4-1 score. The program saw four of its players drafted in the 2024 MLB Draft in Chandler Welch, Colin Tuft, Brady Marget and Teo Banks. Tulane has now totaled 135 all-time draft choices including 18 since 2019.
