Tulane Blanks Jaguars in Spring Opener

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's tennis team swept visiting Southern University 7-0 Saturday afternoon in a match that was affected due to the forecast in Uptown.
The contest, which was originally scheduled for the City Park Tennis Center, was shifted to the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
The Green Wave got doubles wins at No. 1 by Asaf Friedler and Hady El Kordy 6-3 and at No. 2 by AJ Mercer and Maxim Kalinin (6-1). The No. 3 doubles match (as was the Nos. 5 and 6 singles matches) was forfeited by Southern (0-2) due to only having four players.
Friedler (6-1, 6-1), El Kordy (6-1, 6-0), Kalinin (6-1, 7-5) and Mercer (6-4, 6-3) all posted straight-set singles wins.
Tulane (1-0) will be back in action this weekend at the Ole Miss Invitational.
