
Wave Grinds Out Tough Road Win at Louisiana-Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. – In a hard-fought battle inside the Cajundome Tulane men's basketball (3-0) earned a 66-62 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette (1-2) on Tuesday night. The Green Wave attacked the paint to gain the advantage over the Ragin' Cajuns outscoring them 36-14 around the rim to secure the Wave's fourth consecutive 3-0 start.
The trio of Rowan Brumbaugh, Tyler Ringgold, and KJ Green led the Tulane offense in the physical affair on the court. Brumbaugh paced the team with his third-straight game in double figures with 19 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Ringgold and Green both followed with a career-highs on the night. The former finished with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting while the latter posted 14 points. Curtis Williams found his offense in the second half scoring 10 points to help the Green Wave hold on down the stretch.
Meanwhile, Scotty Middleton made his presence felt on the court despite only scoring two points. The junior guard led the Wave with a career-best nine boards while adding a team-best three assists.
The Green Wave and the Ragin' Cajuns traded the lead four times in the opening minutes of the contest until a four-point play by Brumbaugh sparked a 9-0 run that put Tulane in front 13-5. With 11:08 to play the Wave claimed its largest advantage of the first half at 17-7, but Louisiana Lafayette did not go away. The first half closed with the Ragin' Cajuns scoring the final six points to put Tulane behind 29-30 at the break.
After a quick back-and-forth in the first three-plus minutes of the second half, it was Louisiana-Lafayette that made the first push to build a 41-35 advantage. Tulane responded in a hurry with 12 unanswered points to take a 47-41 lead with 10:05 remaining.
The Wave continued to hold off the Ragin' Cajuns as the clock ticked down in the second half. Eventually, Tulane extended its advantage to eight points, 63-55, with under a minute left in the contest. Louisiana-Lafayette tried to make one last effort in the waning moments, but the Green Wave held on to secure the 66-62 victory.
Up next, the Tulane will return to Uptown to host crosstown rival UNO on Friday, November 14. Tipoff between the Wave and the Privateers is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
