Shooting Struggles Doom Tulane Against UNO
Nov 14, 2025 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane men's basketball (3-1) was unable to overcome a rough shooting night against New Orleans (2-1) falling 63-85 Friday night inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
The Green Wave struggled to find rhythm offensively against the Privateers shooting 34.6 percent (18-52) from the field and just 11.1 percent from beyond the arc (3-27). Tulane did win the free throw battle in the contest connecting on 24-of-34 while UNO made 20-of-28 from the line.
Rowan Brumbaugh and Curtis Williams Jr. were the only two players for the Wave to reach double figures in the contest. Brumbaugh secured his 34th consecutive game in double digits as he finished with a team-high 18 points while adding six rebounds and three assists. Williams posted his third game of the season in double figures with 10 points and a team-best three steals.
The Privateers were led by a career performance from Coleton Benson who tallied 33 points on 9-of-14 shooting with eight made three-pointers. Benson's play paced a 54.2 percent (26-48) shooting night from the field and beyond the arc (13-24) for UNO.
Tulane faced a deficit from the start as the Privateers jumped out to a 12-2 advantage in the first five minutes of action. The Wave eventually trailed by as many as 15 in the first half before making a brief run to pull back within eight at 31-39 with 14 second remaining. However, Benson hit a three in the closing seconds for UNO to put the Green Wave down 31-42 at the break.
The Wave came out early with a sense of urgency in the second half chipping away at the UNO lead. With 10:23 left to play made it a five-point game at 45-50 on a layup from Josiah Moore. Unfortunately, that would be as close as Tulane would get on the night as the Privateers slowly pulled away eventually ending with a 63-85 loss for the Green Wave.
Up next, the Tulane will travel to Charleston, South Carolina, to play in the Shriners Children's Charleston Classic on November 21 and 23. The Green Wave will open the tournament against Utah State on Friday at 12 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
