
Williams Jr. Named American Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Tulane men's basketball junior Curtis Williams Jr. was selected as the American Conference Player of the Week following his performance at the Shriners Children's Charleston Classic over the weekend, the league announced Monday.
Williams earned the honor after averaging 21.5 points on 59.3 percent shooting from the field and 53.8 percent from downtown to help the Green Wave go 1-1 and finish third in the Lowcountry Bracket of the Charleston Classic. He also recorded 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 block, and 1.0 steal per game during the tournament.
The Detroit, Michigan, native had the highlight of the weekend for Tulane as he posted a career-high 32 points and nine rebounds in a 93-90 overtime victory over Boston College on Sunday. Against the Eagles Williams shot 12-of-16 from the floor including four made threes to lead the Green Wave to its first win over an Atlantic Coast Conference team since defeating Georgia Tech 57-52 at home on December 3, 2011.
Williams started the Charleston Classic by tallying with 11 points including three makes from downtown against Utah State on Friday. He added three rebounds, two assists, and a career-best two blocks against the Aggies in the first round of the tournament.
The Green Wave will be back in action Friday afternoon, November 28, against Nicholls. Tipoff between Tulane and the Colonels is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse, with live coverage on ESPN+.
