
Tulane Topples Tougaloo, 84-72

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane men's basketball (7-3) bounced back into the win column with an 84-72 victory over Tougaloo College (5-6) on Wednesday night inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave sank 10 three-pointers in the victory marking the third game this season with double-digit makes from beyond the arc.
Redshirt junior Rowan Brumbaugh led four players in double figures for the Wave finishing with 22 points on 7of-11 shooting against the Bulldogs. Brumbaugh stuffed the stat sheet in the contest as he also added seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
Asher Woods finished second on the team with 17 points pouring in 15 after halftime. The senior guard had the highlight of the night as he surpassed 1,000 career points on a layup with 8:58 to play in the second half.
Rounding out the leaders for Tulane were junior transfers Scotty Middleton and Curtis Williams Jr. Middleton recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and a career-best 12 rebounds. The Miami, Florida, product also posted a career-high six assists and matched his career-best with three steals. Meanwhile, Williams registered his ninth game of the season in double figures with 11 points while also swiping a career-high five steals.
Tulane jumped out to the early advantage over Tougaloo as Robert Moore knocked down a three to cap a 17-4 run that put the Wave in front 18-7. The Bulldogs mounted a response to briefly put Tulane behind 18-19, but the Green Wave was quick to answer with eight-straight points.
The lead for the Wave reached double figures three more times over the closing minutes of the first half. Tulane eventually hit the locker room holding a 39-33 advantage over the Bulldogs. Brumbaugh paced the attack over the opening frame for the Green Wave with 10 points on 3-of-3 shooting with a pair of threes.
In the second half Tulane quickly pushed its lead back to double digits to claim full control of the contest. The Green Wave built its largest advantage of the night at 21 points, 79-58, with 3:34 to play before ultimately securing the victory 84-72.
Next, Tulane will travel to Las Vegas to play in the Jack Jones Classic on Saturday, December 13. The Wave will face UC San Diego in the Lee's Family Forum at 11 p.m. CT.
