Wave Locks Down Bulldogs for 61-53 Victory
Dec 17, 2025 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – Defense set the tone for Tulane men's basketball (8-4) to defeat Louisiana Tech (6-4) 61-53 inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave limited the Bulldogs to the fewest points (53), lowest field goal percentage (.316), and lowest three-point percentage (.167) of any opponent this season.
With the win, the Wave improved to 3-2 all-time against Louisiana Tech including 2-1 against the Bulldogs in Uptown. The victory also moved Tulane to 36-8 at home in non-conference games in the Ron Hunter era with a 15-5 record in the month of December.
Â
Rowan Brumbaugh and Scotty Middleton were the only players for the Green Wave to reach double figures in the defensive battle Wednesday night. Six other players reached the scoring column for Tulane including four players that tallied at least five points.
Â
Brumbaugh led the team with 16 points to go with four rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two steals. He surpassed 1,000 career points with a reverse layup in the second half to become the second player this season to eclipse the milestone for Tulane joining Asher Woods who reached the mark on December 10 against Tougaloo College.
Â
Middleton finished with 12 points to mark his fourth game in double digits this season. The junior also tied for the team-high with five boards while adding one block and one steal.
Â
Defensively, Tulane held Louisiana Tech to just 53 points on 31.6 percent (18-of-57) shooting from the field and 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from beyond the arc. Senior Percy Daniels was the anchor of the Wave defense as he matched a career-high with four blocks while the trio of Brumbaugh, Tyler Ringgold, and Curtis Williams Jr. each swiped a pair of steals.
Â
The Green Wave pulled out to the slight advantage early in the first half against the Bulldogs holding a 14-8 lead 10 minutes into the contest. Louisiana Tech battled back to briefly take a one-point lead before Tulane closed the final three minutes of the opening frame on a 9-0 run to hold a 28-20 advantage at the break.
Â
In the second half the Wave quickly extended its lead out to double figures reaching its largest of the evening at 12 points twice at 36-24 and 39-27. Tulane continued to maintain its distance against the Bulldogs throughout the second until the final minutes when Louisiana Tech pulled back within six with 1:26 to play. The Green Wave finished strong at the charity stripe in closing minutes going 9-of-10 from the line to secure the 61-53 victory.
Â
Next, the Green Wave will close out non-conference play at home against Portland State on Saturday, December 20. The contest between Tulane and the Vikings is scheduled to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
