Wave Collects Doubles Point but Crimson Tide Rallies in Singles

TUSCALOOSA, AL – The Tulane women's tennis team secured the doubles point against host Alabama, but the Crimson Tide (2-2) then swept the singles action to collect a 6-1 victory Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.
The Green Wave (0-2) won the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches with a 6-4 by Campbell Ricci and Summer Chandler in the former and a 6-2 triumph by Micah Pierce and Delanie Tribby in the latter. The No. 3 match featuring Jiayun Zhu and Natalia Fantini was knotted a 5-all when play was halted.
In singles, Fantini captured the first set before falling in three and Chandler secured her second set before surrendering the 10-point tiebreaker 11-9.
The Green Wave will be back home Tuesday at City Park Tennis Center against Southern at 1 p.m.
