Tulane Visits Tulsa for Saturday Matinee

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will aim to to sweep the season series against Tulsa as it squares off against the Golden Hurricane on the road Saturday afternoon. The Green Wave has continued to play stout defense all season holding opponents to 40.1 percent shooting from the floor which ranks 23rd in the country.

The matchup between the Wave and the Golden Hurricane is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. on ESPNU. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with Paul Boron or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 38th all-time meeting between Tulane and Tulsa with the Green Wave trailing the series 12-25. The Wave won the previous meeting this season 59-56 at home on February 2. The last time the two teams met in Tulsa the Green Wave defeated the Golden Hurricane 94-87 in overtime on January 14, 2024. Tulane holds a 3-15 record on the road against the Tulsa with two of those three victories coming under Head Coach Ron Hunter.

In its last time out, Tulane secured the season sweep of the Charlotte 49ers with a 78-64 victory on Wednesday, February 26, in Uptown. As a team the Green Wave connected at a 58.3 percent clip from the floor and knocked down nine three-pointers en route to the win that marked the third season with 10-plus league wins for Tulane under Coach Hunter. Kaleb Banks continued to play well at home as he led the Wave with 24 points including five made threes to match his career high.

The Green Wave holds a 3-6 record in true road games this season including a 3-4 mark against league competitions. Experience has been crucial for Tulane on the road this season as the top four scorers for the Wave away from home are Rowan Brumbaugh at 14.0 points per game, Gregg Glenn III with 12.8, Asher Woods at 12.7, and Banks with 10.0.

Tulsa enters the matchup on a two-game losing streak after falling on the road to Rice 71-50 on Saturday, February 22, to drop to 11-17 overall and 5-10 in conference play. Four players average double figures in scoring for the Golden Hurricane this season led by Dwon Odom with 13.4 points per game who also leads the league in assists with 5.2 per game.

The Golden Hurricane ranks second in the conference in three-point attempts per game this season averaging 25.4 shots from downtown. Keaston Willis leads the league in three-point attempts with 210 this season averaging 2.82 makes per game.

Following the matchup at Tulsa, the Green Wave will hit the road to Greenville, North Carolina, to take on East Carolina on Thursday, March 6. Tipoff between Tulane and the Pirates is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
