Mar 1, 2025 | Men's Basketball
TULSA, Okla. – Junior Gregg Glenn III banked home a tough layup with 1.8 seconds remaining to give Tulane men's basketball (17-12, 11-5) the 79-77 victory on the road over Tulsa (11-18, 5-11) on Saturday afternoon. The Green Wave erased a seven-point halftime deficit to pull off the win and sweep the season series against the Golden Hurricane.
With the win, Tulane improved to 4-6 in true road games this season including 4-4 in conference play. The Wave also earned its fourth victory at Tulsa in program history with three of those wins coming under Head Coach Ron Hunter.
Six players scored in double figures for the Green Wave for just the second time this season. Tulane also finished with six players with double digits in scoring in the team's 82-71 win at Rice on January 25.
Glenn III led all scorers with a career-high 22 points including 16 in the second half. The junior forward connected on 7-of-11 shots from the field and hit 8-of-10 attempts from the free throw line.
The other players to reach double figures for the Wave were Rowan Brumbaugh, Kaleb Banks, Percy Daniels, Kam Williams, and Asher Woods. Brumbaugh and Banks each finished with 11 points while the trio of Daniels, Williams, and Woods each added 10. The 10-point performance for Daniels marked a career-high as the junior went a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, Brumbaugh also led Tulane with seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
Offensively, the Green Wave shot 48.3 percent from the floor while doing most of its damage around the rim scoring 40 points in the paint. Tulane also won the rebounding battle 32-29 over the Golden Hurricane and tallied 15 second chance points.
The Wave and the Golden Hurricane went back and forth over the opening seven minutes of the contest until Tulsa made the first run of the day to put Tulane down 16-24. The deficit eventually grew to 12 points for the Green Wave late in the first half, but Tulane made the final push of the frame. A layup by Jordan followed by a three-pointer from Woods cut the score to 36-43 for Tulane at the break.
The second half began with the two teams exchanging buckets again until the Green Wave mounted a 11-3 run to take its first lead since the 15:35 mark of the first half. As part of that scoring run was also 10 unanswered points that put the Wave up 59-53 with 12:28 to play.
Tulane eventually held a seven-point advantage at 71-64 with six minutes remaining, but Tulsa did not go away quietly. The Golden Hurricane battled back to ultimately tie the game at 77-77 with 16 second on the clock. On the next possession Brumbaugh found Glenn III for a contested layup that secured the win for the Green Wave 79-77 over Tulsa.
Up next, the Tulane will travel to Greenville, North Carolina, to square off against East Carolina on Thursday, March 6. The game between the Wave and the Pirates is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
