Tulane Drops Road Battle at East Carolina
Mar 7, 2025 | Men's Basketball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Tulane men's basketball (17-13, 11-6) was unable to overcome a slow start Thursday night falling on the road 64-73 to East Carolina (18-12, 10-7). The Green Wave connected at a better percentage from the field than the Pirates, but the three-point line made a difference as the Wave made just four shots from downtown to ECU's 10.
With the loss, Tulane dropped to 4-7 in true road games this season including 4-5 in conference play. The Wave also suffered its seventh consecutive loss at East Carolina falling to 7-12 all-time in Greenville, North Carolina.
Asher Woods led four players in double figures for Tulane finishing with a season-high 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting. The junior guard also tallied four assists and a pair of steals.
Joining Woods with double digits in scoring were Rowan Brumbaugh, Mari Jordan, and Gregg Glenn III. Brumbaugh recorded 13 points to notch his 26th consecutive game in double figures while also matching his career-high with five steals. Jordan followed with 11 points and five rebounds while Glenn III added 10 points, six boards, and five assists.
Four players scored double figures for the Pirates led by RJ Felton with 17 points. C.J. Walker and Jordan Riley each followed with 15 points while Cam Hayes added 11.
East Carolina delivered the first blow of the night jumping out to an early advantage over the Wave. Tulane faced a 17-point deficit just over 10 minutes into the game, but slowly chipped away to pull within seven at 26-33 with 4:12 on the clock. The Pirates made the final surge of the half as the Green Wave trailed 31-42 at the break.
Tulane cut its deficit back down to seven points early in the second half. However, ECU scored the next 10 points to put the Wave behind 42-59 with 12:01 to play. The Green Wave continued to battle with a 10-2 scoring run to pull within nine points, but that would ultimately as close as the Wave would get the remainder of the game.
The deficit briefly extended back to 13 points with 2:20 seconds left before Tulane eventually lost to the Pirates 64-73.
Up next, the Tulane will return home to host UAB for the final game of the regular season on Sunday, March 9. The game between the Wave and the Blazers is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
