Wave Heads to Charlotte to Play a Pair

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane women's tennis heads back on the road this weekend to play a pair of matches in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2. The 64th-ranked Green Wave (5-4) will square off against Liberty (4-6) on Saturday afternoon before taking on Charlotte (9-2) on Sunday morning.

Both matches will take place at the home of the Charlotte 49ers the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. On Saturday, the Wave will face the Liberty Flames at 12 p.m. CT.

Tulane will follow that match with its first meeting against American Athletic Conference foe Charlotte since 2004. The Green Wave has won each of the last five matchups against the 49ers including a 4-0 sweep in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 16, 2004. The match between the Wave and the 49ers is set for 10 a.m. CT on Sunday.

The Green Wave is coming off a 1-1 performance last weekend during which it defeated No. 44 UTSA 4-2 on February 22. Leading the Wave is singles so far this season are Campbell Ricci and Summer Chandler who are a combined 10-5 this spring at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots. In doubles action Tulane is paced by Ricci and Leigh Van Zyl who hold a 4-1 together at their No. 1 doubles slot.
