Tulane Remains on Top in Tulane Classic after Second Round

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane golf held on to the top spot on the leaderboard in the Tulane Classic presented by Chad Brownstein through 36-holes after carding a 303 (+15) in the second on Monday. The Green Wave lead the tournament by three strokes with a two-round score of 597 (+21).
Francesca Pompa and Matilde Innocenti paced the Wave in the second round each recording a 73 (+1) on Monday. After dropping in three birdies on day two Pompa climbed three spots in the standings to land by herself in third overall with a two-round total of 145 (+1 – 72, 73). Innocenti was the biggest mover on the day for Tulane as she jumped up 17 spots on the leaderboard to land tied for 12th with a score of 151 (+7 – 78, 73) after sinking a team-high six birdies on Monday.
Meanwhile, Gabriella Gilrowski remained in the top five in the field overall by posting a 78 (+6) in the second round to follow her round 69 (-3) from Sunday. She ended day two of the tournament tied for fifth with a two-round total of 147 (+3).
Next up on the leaderboard for Tulane was Cristina Albertazzi who fell four spots into a tie for 18th in the standings after shooting a 79 (+7) in her second round bringing her tournament total to 154 (+10 – 75, 79).
Tonka Zacharovska rounded out the starting lineup for the Green Wave as she recorded a 79 (+7) on Monday to move up nine spots into a tie for 46th in the tournament with a 36-hole score of 163 (+19 – 84, 79).
The biggest riser of the individuals competing for the Wave was Sophia Yi-Ju Chen who moved up 14 spots. Chen carded a 77 (+5) to follow her 82 (+10) in the first round to climb into a tie for 35th overall at 159 (+15) for the tournament.
Ruhee Pandit finished day two tied for 18th in the field after posting a 78 (+6) to bring her tournament total to 154 (+10 – 76, 78). Meanwhile, Lynne Zhang completes the field for Tulane landing tied for 38th overall with a two-round score of 160 (+16) headed into the final round. Zhang followed her 80 (+8) in the first round with another 80 (+8) on day two.
The third and final round of the Tulane Classic presented by Chad Brownstein will tee off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning from English Turn Golf & Country Club.
