
Wave Holds Second & Sixth in Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – In the final weekend of the regular season for Tulane University sailing the Green Wave sits in second and sixth at separate regattas after the first day of racing on Saturday. The Wave holds second place for the Truxtun Umsted Trrophy in Annapolis, Maryland, and sixth place in the Thompson Trophy Team Race in New London, Connecticut.

On the waters of the Severn River on Saturday the Green Wave finished with 105 total points through eight races to hold second out of 17 teams competing for the Truxtun Umsted Trophy. Zander King and Alex Makoid raced together in the A Division to post 51 points and land tied for second in their division at the end of the day. Over in the B Division the duo of John Wood and Ellie Spearman hold fourth with 54 total points.

Over in the Thompson Trophy Team Race the Wave closed the first day of competition tied for sixth in the eight-team field. Skippers Hamilton Barclay, Gabriela Vassel, Christian Ebbin, Ava Anderson, Kelly Holthus, and Sammie Gardner teams with crews CJ Ricci and Essie Clifton to post a 4-7 record on Saturday with two wins over Tufts and one over both Roger Williams and Coast Guard.

Tulane will be back out on the water on Sunday to finish racing in both regattas and complete the regular season.
