
Baseball’s Michael Lombardi Named To NCBWA Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List

DALLAS – Tulane junior Michael Lombardi was recently named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List.
Lombardi is one of 56 players nationally to earn the distinction for the 20th annual Stopper of the Year award. He is one of 47 on the list that was not on the preseason watch list. Lombardi is also one of just three named from the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and one of just five from the state of Louisiana.
Lombardi is 3-0 on the season with a 1.59 ERA. He has appeared in 17 games and 22.2 innings and surrendered just 11 hits while striking out 45. He leads the conference in saves and ranks fifth nationally. Lombardi was named the AAC Pitcher of the Week on April 7 and has been named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll three times this year.
Tulane next gets back into league play and heads to Greenville, NC to battle against ECU (24-17, 9-6 AAC) from April 25-27. The game times are 5 p.m. CT on Friday, April 25, 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 26, and 12 p.m. CT on Sunday, April 27, at Clark-Leclair Stadium.
