Curtis Williams Jr. Inks with Green Wave
Apr 23, 2025 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University men's basketball program announced another addition from the transfer portal this week as Curtis Williams Jr. will join the team's roster for the 2025-26 campaign. Williams will join the Green Wave this fall with two years of eligibility remaining.
Â
"Curtis is just the type of player we were looking for," Head Coach Ron Hunter said. "His experience at some of the highest levels of college basketball and ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor is exactly what we need."
Â
Williams, a 6'6" guard, spent the last season at Georgetown where he made 33 appearances including three starts. The Detroit product averaged 4.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game during his only season with the Hoyas. Â
Â
During his 2024-25 campaign with Georgetown, Williams scored in double figures in seven games including a career-high 15 points against UConn on January 11. He closed the season connecting at a 40.6 percent clip from the field and a 73.1 percent clip from the free throw line.
Â
Before playing for the Hoyas, he spent one season at Louisville where he played in all 32 games making starts in four of those outings. Williams averaged 5.3 points in 17.7 minutes on the floor for the Cardinals including a career-high performance with 19 points against Florida State on February 3, 2024.
Â
Williams was a consensus four-star recruit out of Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, in 2023. He was ranked as a top 150 prospect by several recruiting services including No. 73 by Rivals.com, No. 77 by 247Sports, and No. 84 by ESPN.
Â
As a senior at Brother Rice Williams averaged 16.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists to help lead the team to a 22-2 record and claim the team's first CHSL Central Division title since 1996 and its first CHSL tournament championship since 1990. He was also tabbed as a runner-up for Michigan's 2023 Mr. Basketball Award.
