
Five Named All-Conference Selections by AAC Coaches

IRVING, TX – The American Athletic Conference announced its 2025 all-league teams and individual awards Monday and, in it, recognized five Tulane student-athletes.
Relief pitcher Michael Lombardi and second baseman Connor Rasmussen were named to the first team. Designated hitter Gavin Schulz was a second team selection. The program saw outfielders Jason Wachs and Tanner Chun earn a spot on the all-freshman team. Wachs was a unanimous selection.
The awards were voted on by the league's 10 head coaches. The five selections are tied with last year for the most for the program since 2016 (seven). This was the second straight year that both Lombardi (second team in 2024) and Schulz (first team in 2024) were chosen for post-season conference awards for the Green Wave.
Lombardi went 3-0 this season with a 1.45 ERA. He has appeared in 21 games with four starts. His 11 saves leads the conference and places him ninth nationally. He has also struck out 56 in 31 innings pitched while allowing just 16 hits, 18 walks and a .151 batting average against.
Rasmussen is hitting .337 with 39 runs, 66 hits, 14 doubles, a triple, five home runs, 42 RBIs, 97 total bases, a slugging percentage of .495, 29 walks, an on-base percentage of .436 and three stolen bases. He also played and started all 54 games this season.
Schulz sports a .297 batting average with 45 runs, 58 hits, 11 doubles, a triple, five home runs, 37 RBIs, 86 total bases, a .441 slugging percentage, 38 runs and nine stolen bases. He ranked fifth in the conference in walks while playing and starting in all 54 games.
Wachs is hitting .349 with 42 runs, 52 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, 21 RBIs, 69 total bases, a .463 slugging percentage, 30 walks, a .476 on-base percentage and four stolen bases. He ended the regular season having reached base in each of the last 22 games of the season with a hitting streak of 19 contests. He currently ranks sixth in the conference in both batting average and on-base percentage.
Chun is hitting .255 with 33 runs, 39 hits, eight doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 32 RBIs, 75 total bases, .490 slugging percentage, 22 walks, a .375 on-base percentage and six stolen bases. He leads the team in home runs and ranks second in stolen bases.
The fifth-seeded Green Wave (30-24) will face fourth-seeded Florida Atlantic (36-19) on Tuesday in the first day of action at the AAC Baseball Tournament in Clearwater, Florida (BayCare Ballpark). The game will start at 8 a.m. CT/9 a.m. ET.
