
Baseball Has A Pair of All-State Selections

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane's baseball team had a pair of players named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) All-State Team this season in junior Michael Lombardi and junior Connor Rasmussen.
Lombardi was an LSWA First Team selection as a pitcher after going 4-1 with 2.14 ERA in 42 innings pitched during the 2025 campaign. He led the conference in saves with 11. His 73 strikeouts led the team. He also only allowed 20 hits on the year and opponents sported a .143 batting average against him. Lombardi worked as the team's closer for much of the season but also started six games and struck out a career-high 11 in a career best seven inning in the first round of the AAC Championship. During the regular season, Lombardi was named the league's Pitcher of the Week on April 7 and was also named to league's Weekly Honor Roll four times. He was also previously named a First Team All-AAC selection. He was drafted in the second round (61st overall) in the 2025 MLB Draft
Rasmussen was an LSWA First Team selection as a second baseman after hitting .333 with 41 runs, 71 hits, 15 doubles, a triple, five home runs, 45 RBIs, a .484 slugging percentage and a .427 on-base percentage during the 2025 season. He also walked 30 times, was hit by 11 pitches plus stole three bases and fielded at a .991 clip while playing and starting all 58 games. He was also previously named a First Team All-AAC selection. He was drafted in the 15th round (458th overall) in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Tulane went 33-25 this season and reached the AAC Championship Game for the third straight season. The program had five All-AAC selections on the year in Lombardi (P – 1st), Rasmussen (2B – 1st), Gavin Schulz (DH – 2nd), Jason Wachs (All-Freshman) and Tanner Chun (All-Freshman). The team also had three chosen for the AAC's All-Tournament Team in Schulz, Tayler Montiel and Theo Bryant IV. The program also had three players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft in Lombardi (Kansas City Royals – 2nd round), Montiel (Arizona Diamondbacks – 12th round) and Rasmussen (Kansas City Royals – 15th round)
