Wave Extends Winning Streak to Five Matches

MOBILE. Ala. ย โ Tulane volleyball (5-2) won its fifth consecutive match on Friday as it defeated Southeastern Louisiana (5-1) in four sets at the Jaguar Invitational. The last time the Green Wave reached five-straight victories came last season from September 14 through September 21.
Avery Burks led the offense with 21 kills against the Loins. Lauryn Mack and Sabrina Skyers followed not far behind with 10 kills each. Along with her kills Skyers made six blocks for the Wave.
With 49 assists, Zoe Rachow set up the Green Wave offense for the win. On defense Dayla Ortiz paced the team with 20 digs followed by 15 from Annabelle He. Madison McLin stopped the Loins offense at the net with eight blocks.
In set one Tulane took control with a 4-0 run to claim its first lead at 7-5. The Wave never surrendered the advantage the rest of the set going on to win 25-19.
Momentum stayed with the Green Wave in the second set as Ortiz highlighted a 5-0 run with a service ace that put Tulane in front 11-6. The Wave continued to hold off the Lions clinching set two 25-15.
Set three started out hot with Tulane scoring five straight points to take an early lead, but the Loins had an answer to force another set by winning the third 25-22.
During fourth and final set the Green Wave left no doubt by building a 20-11 advantage over the Southeastern Louisiana with a five-point scoring capped by final kill of the match by Burks. The Wave ultimately won the match with a kill from Skyers to secure the set 25-14 and the match 3-1.
