Green Wave Starts ITA Kickoff Weekend with #4 Auburn

AUBURN, AL – Tulane's women's tennis team will face its third consecutive ranked opponent on Saturday when it squares off with fourth-ranked Auburn at noon at Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The Green Wave dropped a 7-0 decision at #2 Texas A&M last weekend, followed by a 6-1 loss at #25 Baylor.
Against the Bears, Micah Pierce surrendered the first set at No. 4 singles but rallied to take sets 2 and 3 6-3 and 6-1, respectively.
The winner of Saturday's match will play the winner of the 3 p.m. match between Nevada and Florida State on Sunday at 1 p.m. The consolation match will be held that morning at 10 a.m.
Auburn enters the weekend with a perfect 7-0 record and is coming off a midweek victory over Georgia Tech on Tuesday. Senior Ekaterina Khairutdinova earned the SEC's first Player of the Week honor on Wednesday after winning all five of her singles matches in straight sets and all five doubles matches to begin her Auburn career.
The Tigers have four players (Ashton Bowers – 27, Ava Esposito – 28, Alice Battesti – 90 and Natalie Outcalt – 119) ranked nationally in singles, while two doubles teams (Bowers/DJ Bennett at 55 and Esposito/Bennett at 59) are also ranked.
