Tulane Opens 2026 at Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Tulane women's track and field team returns to action for its first two-day meet of the season beginning tomorrow with the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational, hosted by Kentucky. The event is hosted in Louisville, Kentucky, at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center.
Action begins at 11:00 a.m. CT tomorrow with the women's high jump. Field events for day one run through the women's pole vault, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Track events open at 2:00 p.m. with qualifying for the women's 60 meters. Track events run all afternoon until concluded with the women's and men's 1,000 meters at 7:10 and 7:20 p.m., respectively. Saturday's events open with the women's shot put at 9:30 a.m. The triple jump follows at 11:00 a.m. Track events begin with the finals of the women's 60 meters at 10:30 a.m. and conclude with the women's and men's 4x400 relay at 1:30 and 2:00 p.m., respectively.
There are 18 total teams competing with Tulane being the lone program from the American Conference. Alongside the Wave and the host Wildcats, the remainder of the field is comprised of Alabama State, Bellarmine, Cincinnati, Cumberlands (Ky.), East Carolina, Hampton, Howard, Indiana, Louisville, Missouri Baptist, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Purdue, UCF, Vanderbilt, and Western Kentucky.
The Green Wave will have 10 representatives competing this weekend. Tulane's lone field athlete is Sofie Groeninger, who will compete in the shot put. Maria Alduan will race in the 800m and 1,000m, and Eliza Brand will join her in the 800m. Bella Caroll is set for a trio of races – the 60m, 200m, and 300m. Nahema Dumonteil Cabanas will also run in the 300m, as will Marissa Gordon, who adds the 400m to her ledger. Zaria Parker is set for the trio of 60m, 200m, and 300m. Getting into more distance, Elena Liano-Rengel will race in the 1,000m and the mile, and Jasper Newton joins her for the mile. Reese Ragland will round out the 10 Tulanians with her participation in the 800m. To cap off the Tulane lineup, the 4,000m distance medley relay will feature Newton, Liano-Rengel, Brand, and Ragland.

After opening the 2026 calendar year this weekend, Tulane returns to action next weekend with the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee. Hosted by the namesake Commodores, the event takes place on January 16 and 17.
