Kimpson, Mabry Honored by American Conference
Feb 23, 2026 | Women's Basketball
IRVING, Texas – The American Conference announced today its women's basketball honorees for all games played February 16-22 with Tulane's Shiloh Kimpson and Amira Mabry each earning recognition by the league. Kimpson was named American Freshman of the Week while Mabry took home an honorable mention nod.
Â
This is Kimpson's second freshman of the week honor, and she joins teammate Mecailin Marshall (three) as a multi-time honoree this season. Tulane is the only team in the conference to have multiple freshman of the week recipients this season, let alone at least two who have secured it multiple times each. Mabry's honorable mention nod is her first of the campaign and the fourth for the Green Wave this season. She joins Kanija Daniel (twice) and Kendall Sneed as the program's honorees.
Â
Kimpson, a native of Little Elm, Texas, averaged 7.0 points per game on the week and dished 17 total assists at a rate of 8.5 per contest. Her 17 helpers led the conference for the week, regardless of class. In Tulane's first of two victories over Memphis last week, the freshman dished a career-high seven helpers in Memphis. Two days later, she made her first-career start and delivered a double-double by way of 12 points and 10 assists. She nearly missed a triple-double by adding six rebounds. All three marks are new career bests. Between her assists and makes, Kimpson directly played a hand in 18 of Tulane's 63 points at Memphis, and she was responsible for 35 of the 69 points in the rematch in New Orleans. Between the two games, Kimpson either scored or assisted on 53 of the Wave's 132 points, which is 40.2 percent of the team's overall output. Â
Â
Mabry, a native of Converse, Texas, led the team in scoring with an average of 12.0 points per game on the week. She shot an even 50.0 percent, making 10-of-20 from the floor. The senior added 10 rebounds, a block, and three steals. In the road triumph over the Tigers, Mabry led the team with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting while grabbing five boards. Two days later, she reached double-digits again with 11 points, adding five more boards with a block and two steals.
Â
The Green Wave hits the road again to take on Tulsa tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. The contest will stream on ESPN+ and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM and through the Varsity Network App. Tulane then returns home to Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse for a senior day contest against Wichita State on Saturday.
