
Tulane Heads East for Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Tulane track and field team continues its outdoor campaign this weekend with a trip to the Tar Heel State for the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State. The three-day event takes place at Paul Derr Track Facility and begins Thursday, March 26, and runs through Saturday, March 28.
The meet will be broadcast on ACC Network Xtra during select timeframes each day. On Thursday, the meet will stream from 3-6 p.m. CT. The three-hour streaming window on Friday is set for 6-9 p.m. CT, and on Saturday the streaming window will be 2-5 p.m. CT. Live results are available through Flash Results. Tulane is sending a full contingent of both the men's and women's squads to compete this weekend. Action begins tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. CT with the field events, starting with women's shot put. Track events pick up at 3:05 p.m. CT. On Friday, competition heats up with the field events at 9:00 a.m. CT with track events beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT. The final day of the meet starts at 8:30 a.m. CT with field events, and the track events begin at 10:15 a.m. CT.
The Green Wave will compete in the majority of the events. On Thursday, Tulane will see action in the javelin, men's 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase, men's 5,000m, and men's 10,000m. The Green Wave will partake on Friday in the women's discus, women's 100m, women's 100m hurdles, men's 400m, women's 1,500m, women's 5,000m, women's triple jump, and women's high jump. Tulane will have participants on Saturday in the 200m, 800m, women's 400m hurdles, women's 4x100m relay, women's 4x400m relay, women's long jump, women's pole vault, and women's hammer throw.
Last weekend, Tulane opened the outdoor season at the Louisiana Classics in Lafeyette. Cara Salsberry highlighted the Wave's weekend by first placing third in the discus with a mark of 46.76m, fourth all-time in program history. She followed the next day by hurling the second-best hammer throw mark in program history at 57.97m, good enough to win the event. Nahema Dumonteil Cabanas also notched a victory, topping the meet in the 400m hurdles with a 1:00.81 to rank ninth in program history. They were part of 17 total top-10 finishes across the meet for the Wave.
So far this season, the Wave has three athletes with top-50 marks in the country. Lee Harris is 36th in the men's 100m after running a 10.41 last weekend. Dumonteil Cabanas is 41st nationally with her 400m hurdles clip, and Salsberry's hammer mark is good for 33rd in the country.
The season continues next weekend with the first of back-to-back trips to the Lone Star State. Tulane will partake in the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State with the three-day event spanning April 2-4 in San Marcos. The following weekend, Tulane travels to College Station for Texas A&M's 44 Farms Team Invitational from April 9-14.
