
No. 17 Bowling Ready for Music City Challenge

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The 17th-ranked Green Wave will compete in one of its final regular season tournaments this weekend with the Music City Challenge, hosted by No. 2 Vanderbilt. The three-day event begins tomorrow morning and is held at Smyrna Bowling Center.

Tulane will be a part of a stacked 33-team field that features 15 other top-25 programs. Alongside the 17th-ranked Wave and the second-ranked host Commodores, the other ranked foes in the event are No. 1 Jacksonville State, No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 4 Wichita State, No. 5 Louisiana Tech, No. 7 Maryville, No. 8 Youngstown State, No. 9 Wright State, No. 10 Sacred Heart, No. 11 Niagara, No. 12 NC A&T, No. 13 McKendree, No. 14 Sam Houston, No. 15 Newman, and No. 21 UAB.

The event begins tomorrow morning with five sets of five Baker matches beginning at 9:40 a.m. Saturday's competition will feature five traditional games starting at 9:30 a.m. After the first two days of qualifying, the bracket portion will commence on Sunday with three best-of-seven Baker matches with the action starting at 8:55 a.m.

Tulane is 46-32 on the season with 16 total ranked wins, including seven against top-10 teams. The Wave averages 189.3 pins per game.

Mia Stolakis leads the team with 415 strikes this season. Sarah Rubi (266) and Valeria Colon (261) join her over 250. Stolakis boasts a player composite performance index (PCPI) of 88.919 percent, which ranks 19th in the country. She ranks 15th nationally in individual strike percentage at 52.7. As one of the best anchor bowlers in the nation, Stolakis is seventh both in 10th frame scoring average with 21.246 and in 10th frame double percentage with 34.3. In the Baker format, Linnea Holcomb ranks eighth nationally with a split leave percentage of 5.6.

Last time out Tulane competed in the TNBA Open in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, placing fifth in the eight-team field. Stolakis highlighted the event for the Wave by earning all-tournament team honors on day two.

Postseason play is up next for Tulane, beginning with the USBC Intercollegiate Singles and Team Sectionals. The Green Wave was drawn to the Fort Worth Sectional with the singles portion commencing on March 13. The team sectionals take place the following two days on March 14 and 15. The Conference USA Championship will follow with Tulane returning home to Colonial Lanes in Harahan, Louisiana. The event begins on Wednesday March 18 and runs through Sunday, March 22.
