Tulane Concludes Outdoor Track and Field Regular Season

COLLEGE STATION, Texas & BATON ROUGE, La. – The Green Wave will split for a pair of meets this weekend as Tulane wraps up its outdoor track and field campaign. A majority of the team will compete in the Alumni Muster, hosted by Texas A&M, at E.B. Cushing Stadium over the next two days. A smaller contingent will head up to Bernie Moore Stadium for the LSU Invitational on Saturday, May 2.
The Alumni Muster is a two-day event taking place on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2. Day one begins with the men's discus at 4:00 p.m., and the women will follow. Cara Salsberry be Tulane's first competitor of the weekend in that event. The women's and men's 5,000m will close the night, beginning with the women's race at 8:00 p.m. The Saturday slate opens with the hammer throw at 10:00 a.m. Salsberry will once again start the day off for the Wave. Running events start at 2:15 p.m. with the women's 4x100m relay. Tulane's first track event of the day is the women's 1,500m, in which Dorcas Naibei will race. Running events go through the 4x400m relays with the men's race at 6:45 p.m. closing the day. Live results for the weekend can be found here.
For a second-straight weekend, Tulane makes an appearance in Baton Rouge for a one-day event. The LSU Invitational will take place just on Saturday, May 2. Tulane will not compete in any field events in this meet. The Wave's first action is in the women's 1,500m at 12:40 p.m. when Elena Liano-Rengel, Jasper Newton, and Dana Rojas Vazquez will all hit the track. At 2:10 p.m., Maria Alduan and Eliza Brand will race in the women's 800m. Tulane's third and final event of the meet is the women's 3,000m steeplechase at 3:30 p.m. with Alex Sharp and Allison Hall competing. Live results for the event can be found here.
Tulane athletes are making multiple appearances in the national top 100 rankings. For the women, Blezzin Kimutai is 82nd in the 5,000m with her time of 15:54.81. Her 10,000m mark of 33.28.35 is 56th. Salsberry also makes a pair of appearances, as her discus throw of 50.25m is 96th. Her program record of 59.54m in the hammer is 62nd nationally. In the heptathlon, Sofie Groeninger's total of 5,264 points checks in at 57th in Division I. For the men, a pair of Wave athletes are checking in for the 10,000m. Rogerio Amaral (29:10.35) and Tommy Rice (29:12.80) are 95th and 97th, respectively. Silas Kiptanui is 5th in the country with his 3,000m steeplechase time of 8:25.16, also a program record.
This weekend concludes the outdoor regular season. The program is off next week before competing in the American Conference Outdoor Championships May 15-17. The meet is held in Denton, Texas.
