2000: Appeared in four games as a true freshman, all in relief...longest outing of the year came at Arizona (Feb. 26) when he struck out a career-high three batters in 2.2 innings of work...tallied two strikeouts in 1.0 inning at UAB (April 14)...also saw action vs. Louisville (March 17) and against LSU (April 19).
Summer Ball: Played for the Salinas Packers of the California Coastal League in 2001 where he tallied a 2.30 ERA and a 1-0 record in 27.1 innings of work...gave up just seven earned runs and 19 hits against 116 batters faced...also played for the Packers in 2000.
High School: Two-year starter at Palma High for coach Tony Incavilgia, seeing time at first base and on the mound...earned first-team all-CCS Division 4 honors as a senior...pitched 16 consecutive scoreless innings, and did not allow a run in the playoffs during his prep career...also started two years for the PHS football team where he helped the Chieftains earn back-to-back state championships...off the diamond, was a member of the National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation, and was the ASB treasurer.
